Our principal mission is debt collection. We offer a full range of collection services including telephone collections, letter series, commercial collections, litigation, and the collection of bad checks.

Goggins & Lavintman, P.A. has practiced in the field of full-service debt collection since 1971 when Michael J. Goggins, now retired, founded our predecessor firm.

While debt collection under the auspices of a law firm encourages collection, it requires prudence and versatility of action.  Voluntary collection, and not litigation, is the focus of our efforts.  We only litigate as a last resort.  Therefore, Goggins & Lavintman Legal Assistants are especially proficient in arranging repayment without the threat or utilization of litigation.  Where it does not appear that a voluntary repayment will be forthcoming, our Legal Assistants are equally able to garner sufficient information to determine whether litigation would prove to be an effective alternative.

It is our experience that an educated debtor will more likely volunteer to repay an indebtedness. 

Therefore, in our contacts with debtors, we attempt to educate or explain to the debtor, in a straightforward, professional manner, the nature of the obligation, inquire into the cause of the default, and discuss the creditor's rights thereafter.  This method leads to a most effective result.

As part of our effort towards constantly increasing client satisfaction, we continue to develop the skills of our employees through our ongoing training program to ensure they are fully knowledgeable of all the laws, rules, and regulations that govern debt collection, as well as embodying the firm’s philosophy of maintaining professionalism in all contacts with debtors. We support our employees by utilizing state-of-the-art telephone systems, computer technology, and collection software.  As a result of this ongoing investment in people and technology, we continue to grow and provide the highest possible service and recoveries for our clients.
